Mark your calendars and mail your registration! Prepare for the best scooter rally you have ever attended. The Second Annual Scooting the Ozarks Rally will be September 16-19, 2009, in historic Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

The Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas have some of the best twisty roads for scooter riding you will find anywhere, and our ride coordinators are mapping out some great routes.  Whether you want an all-day, speed limit ride, or a short, slower ride, you will find what you want here. All scooters are welcome, moped to maxi.

A Show and Shine is being planned. This time there will be a category for “other bikes” for those with a spouse or friend attending who rides something other than a scooter.

If you ride, and your partner doesn’t, there are lots of interesting things to see and do in Eureka Springs.  With Trolley tickets only $4.50 (all day, on and off as many times as you want) you can go on a scooter ride, and the non-riding partner can still have a way to go shopping or see the sights.

We have a tentative agenda posted on the forum. Changes may be made as we work out details. Changes may have to be made in the case of bad weather, but we hope for the nearly perfect weather (slightly cool mornings, highs in the 70s-lower 80s) we had in 2008.

Patches can be ordered from Clint, the designer.  And Official 2009 STO Rally shirts and other apparel and fun items are available from STO’s Online Store.

Registration is prorated, so get yours in soon and save. A drawing is made from those pre-registered for the rally at the end of each month April - July for one free room night at 1876 Inn, our host hotel.  Registration form and other information on the rally are all on the STO Forum at http://scoottheozarks.proboards77.com with easy to find links to the info next to the slide-show of 2008 STO Rally photos. Hope to see you at the rally.

Lou, STO Rally coordinator, sent out the following update. The pre-registration drawing is for one night stay at the 1876 Inn during the rally.  Only 2 more drawings before the rally, June 30 and July 31.

Quote
I spoke with David Brasswell today. He is a freelance writer for four motorcycle magazines & operates this webpage http://www.cruisetheozarks.com/  He has asked to come to our rally & take some pictures & do some writing. He may even take us on a ride.  He is also composing a journal called "Touring Arkansas" And some of our pictures may end up in this.  He has also listed our rally on cruise webpage.

I went & had some neat name tags printed up today that will pin on & will be asked to wear during the rally. Instead of the arm bands.

Diane & I will be at the Iron Range Super Scooter Rally next week. I will be passing out flyers & have extra's for those who want some to post in their area.

The next pre registration drawing is in two weeks. So keep those registration's coming.  Remember........You can't win if your not in!

Less than 2 months until the STO Rally in Eureka Springs, Arkansas September 16-19. Plans are coming together for twisting scenic rides, Show & Shine, Poker Run, meals and more.  Check out the agenda, still in progress but getting closer to being complete. http://scoottheozarks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=agenda&action=display&thread=532

Our coordinator, Lou, will be making the last drawing for a free room night at our host hotel, 1876 Inn, on July 31. Get your registration in before then to qualify for the drawing. http://scoottheozarks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=regform&action=display&thread=364

The Ozarks of northwest Arkansas offers some of the best riding roads in the country. STO’s ride coordinators, who live in the area, have been busy mapping and riding routes for group and self-guided rides.  Whether you want an all-day ride on a maxi-scooter or a short ride for a smaller, slower scoot, this is the place for it.

STO is fast approaching. Plan to join us September 16-19 in Eureka Springs, AR. Our coordinator, Lou Larson, has just sent out another update that I would like to share.

Thing's are pretty much in place for our second annual rally. Frankly after Charlie stepped down because of health problems. I hadn't a clue on how this was going to come together. But it all did. And I couldn't done it all myself being 800 miles away. Thanks to all the people that stepped up & pitched in to help.
Tressa Grammer. This lady is the heart & soul of STO. Learning the webpage, setting up the t-shirt shop, And giving me the boost I needed when I needed it to keep this going.
Tim Kring along with Terry & Tammy Rankin. Tim has been the one setting up all the rides & the poker run. These three along with Charlie will be leading us on some fine rides.
Be sure to check out the rally agenda for rides updateshttp://scoottheozarks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=09rallyrides
Ed Williams for helping out coordinating our vendors.
Marty Olson, Marty has gotten some rally nice raffle/door prize contributions for the rally. Those new sponsors have been added to the sponsor page http://scoottheozarks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=links Don’t know if you would want to list these sponsors or refer people to the page. If you want to list them, they are:
New Enough http://www.newenough.com/
Stop & Go http://www.stopngo.com/
Protect All http://www.protectall.com/
Audicator-USA http://www.audicator-usa.com/
RoadRUNNER http://www.roadrunner.travel//

And so many more. Barb & Phyllis for setting up a hospitality table. Chet for taking care of our BBQ & Pizza night. Christy Hughs for helping out with the Show N shine. I'm sure there's some I've missed.

It just goes to show you that STO is a peoples Rally. Put on by the folks of STO.
So come one & all & enjoy a Premier Scooter rally that has been set up for you!

I would like to remind all folks who are trailering their scoots to the rally. To leave your trailer in the back of the Hoe Down parking lot.

Don't forget to order your T-shirtshttp://scoottheozarks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=store

The last months winner of the Pre -Registration has declined the free nites stay as they have made other lodging. So the good news is. The pre -registration is going on for one more month. I will be drawing another winner @ the end of August. So keep those pre-registrations coming in.

Clocks are counting down to STO, just 3 more weeks. Besides group rides, there will be a Show & Shine, a poker run, lots of door prizes, good food, and vendors. So far 10 vendors have confirmed their intention to attend, and include a pin-striper, scooter dealer, and businesses with accessories of various types.

Agenda and registration form can be found on STO’s forum http://scoottheozarks.proboards.com  Important rally info can be found easily using the links next to the slide-show of 2008 STO Rally photos. Save $10 registration by pre-registering. Get your registration in before Sept. 1 to be eligible for a drawing for one free room night at the host hotel, 1876 Inn.

Folks,
Lots of things have to come together to make this work. One main ingredient is you! Without your pre-registrations this would not happen.
Thank You to all of you who have pre-registered. THANK YOU! for your trust & support!

All pre registrations MUST be sent out by the 5th. Diane & I are leaving on the 12th so it must be here by the 11th. Any one who's I did not receive will be asked to pay when you register for the rally & I will send your check back to you when we get home.

You must register for the rally @ the front desk of the 1876 inn. remember to wear your nametag for the entire rally. You will also be given your door prize ticket when you register. Hang on to it as we will be giving things out thru-out  the rally.

I need a couple people to run the Show n Shine. The folks who volunteered may be unable to attend the Rally. Its real simple, I have the ballots, paperwork, everything set up for this event. All you would have to do is set up the scoots, keep track of the ballots & count them. Please E-mail or pm me.

Remember ALL trailers & overflow parking must go to the back of the Hoe Down Parking lot.

A lot of time, phone calls, pm's went into setting this up. It is what it is. I ask if you find any imperfections, ( Hopefully you won't) something that doesn't meet your expectations, that you take it to that person or write your suggestion on the webpage when you get home. This is Diane's & My big vacation of the year. We want to have as much fun as you.

The closing ceremonies will be different this year. There will be no skits. We will be giving out awards and we will save the nicer door prizes for then. You must be present to win! We will try our best to keep it short & simple.

We had a great rally, in spite of the rain. Had some rain showers (not constant, 24-hour rain) every day except Friday, but did manage to get some good rides in. Wednesday’s long ride south to Oark, AR was postponed and replaced with a ride toward the north, away from the rain, instead. I didn’t go personally, but was told that after just a few miles, the roads were dry, and they had dry roads all day until within a few miles of Eureka Springs on the way back. Our ride coordinators did a wonderful job planning rides around the rain. Thank you Tim, Tammy and Terry, and thanks to Charlie for his suggestions. Here’s a link to some of the photos I took during the rally. http://picasaweb.google.com/stoshopkeeper/STO2009Album?authkey=Gv1sRgCNuZha_FhOvQ5gE&feat=directlink

Poker Run was done in the rain on Saturday. There were 9 scoots, 10 people, in the group I lead. One lady wasn’t comfortable with riding in the rain, having had incidents in the rain previously, and returned to get her car after 2 of the stops. We stress “ride your own ride” and don’t want anyone riding in a situation or at a speed they are not comfortable with. I respect her for doing what was right for her rather than following the crowd.

Haven’t heard how many attended the rally. Some people were there for some events but not others. Around 70 attended Pizza Night on Thursday, and we had several who had not yet arrived by then. (Rally was Wednesday - Saturday.)

We had 11 vendors at the rally. We really appreciate them braving the rain and opening up for business. I think most of them found the rally profitable. Some had more orders than they could fill at the rally and will be shipping some of their products.

The current core staff of Lou, myself, Marty & Tim have agreed to stay on and produce another year! We already have some surprises in the works. Have to get confirmations before making announcements. Don’t mark your calendar just yet, but tentative dates for the next rally are September 15-18, 2010. Yes, we had rain during this week this year.  But last year the same week of September was wonderful with only a sprinkle on one day.  I’ll be posting updates on the 2010 rally as information becomes available.
