Ok, so on my Roketa I have this cool locking glovebox right in front of my knees.  After having the bike for awhile now, the locking feature is more of an annoyance than anything else.  The door is too flimsy to keep anything of real value inside anyway.  I'd actually like to keep gloves in the glovebox but I don't want to have to shut the scooter off, remove the key, unlock the box...  You get the point.

So I had the idea from looking at a friend's camper to use a "thumblock" from an RV dealer to replace the lock mechanism.

I took my lock in with me so the guy at the RV shop could find one to fit.  Apparently they come in different "lengths".  We got one that fit right in and was the right length (depth?).

After putting it in I found that the lock wouldn't turn.  I figured out that the "catch" is longer than stock so I had to trim the hole it slides up into.  Right where the screwdriver is pointing.

Looks like this now.  You can also trim the part it slides against to adjust the fit of the door...

All finished it looks like this:

I figure that lock keeps exterior doors on campers shut at 65mph it'll keep this little door shut no problem.

Total cost was $5.00 plus tax. Smiley

Nice ad-lib! I kept my registration/insurance papers in there. The glove box is useless really because everything falls out when you open it unless it's stuffed in there tightly. I saw a post where a guy put a little net across the front that was hidden with the door closed. I seemed to do the job.

I seriously plan to keep gloves in there!  The weather here can change by 30⁰F in 15 minutes when  the wind comes off Lake Superior.  This past Wed I was scooting around in a t-shirt in the AM and before noon the wind switched and it dropped from 70⁰ to 50⁰ almost instantly.  Froze my a$$ off just getting back home...

I also plan to install my power outlet in there for charging my cell, etc...

Not a bad idea as locks are for honest people anyway
