Errrruuuummmm....   We like to refer to them as "Chinometers"  lol

The only way to calculate it is to ride with a GPS and compare after a few "Miles"

Also do not be surprised if the speedometer is off by 10mph. Most are.
The odometer or mileage is most likely in kilometers.

If the speedo is off by 10 MPH then it's not tracking off miles or kilometers. It's tracking off CHINOMETERS!

I've been wrenching on these things for a while now and I've learned that if you can get more than 15,000 Chinometers then you did good.

On my scooters, Speedometer is in Km, and mph, ( my Chinometer is only off by 3mph over actual speed,  when riding over 30mph ) the odometer is Km.

I was wondering how I racked up 660 miles so quickly.

That is actually a mis-translation from Chinese to English.  It was originally supposed to say 'smiles' Grin

I wish I could say it's been all smiles, but it took about 600 chinometers, online research, some wrenching, and trips back to dealer to get my scoot all straightened out and finally running the way it should have from the showroom.  I'd say 60 smiles so far with hopefully a lot more to come.   Wink

Never paid attention to miles just speed on GPS. I will have too, cause local cops radar crazy,  both City Jerks, and the Sheriff  (Agghhhhhhh, remember when I was younger radar wouldnt pick up a bike)!

My ODO and speedometer are way off, I was driving on a street that has a limit of 45, I looked down and my needle climbed well over 70mph and cars were passing me. Now today it stopped working all together, my ODO is stopped at 796 and my speedometer doesnt work. Wondering if I can replace it

Are you sure it says mph...?  I though mine was in mph, then when I realized I was going 70mph and being passed like crazy, I knew something wasn't right.  I know what 70 is, and that was no 70mph.  When I stopped next, I took a close look and realized the BIG numbers on the speedo were kph and the small numbers were mph.  Check your speedo.  I bet it reads kph.

Your speedometer gear down by the front wheel may have taken a dump. It is where your speedometer cable goes in by the front wheel. I had to replace mine at just over 500 miles. One way to tell if it is not your speedometer that is broke, is to disconnect  your speedometer cable down by the front wheel. Spin the end of the cable with a drill or even your hand and see if the speedometer needle moves. If it does not your speedo gear by the front wheel is most likely toast.

Hooked my tomtom up to my scoot and hit a top speed of 40, but that was running it with the lingering issue I have been dealing with. I wasnt able to compare to the ODO cause it is not currently working, gonna get into it tomorrow and see what the problem is. Oh and I looked closer at my ODO and it says MPH not km/hr. Must have a bad cable or wishful thinking
