I had recently bought a 150cc scoot and want to make it faster. I have read things like carb rejetting, but want to get a performance kit($149) to see if it will speed it up. The kit that I am looking at contains new weights, Perfomance no rev limit CDI, Coil & Coil wire, plug, new exhaust, air filter, variator, 1500rpm spring, performance clutch, carb jets and rollers.... NOW my question is, will it be enough difference to notice? and are there any other easy mods that I can do to speed it up other than boring it out. (since it is fairly new). When this one dies (hopefully not soon) I will but a 250cc in, but want speed NOW.... any info is greatly appreciated!

The weights ,what weight?, if the right weight, for the 150cc 12g is good, will only increase take off and uphill performance. Not a big problem with the 150's. A nice set of Dr. Pully sliders would be better.

The CDI,plug, and coil will smooth out how the engine runs, not ad any top speed. The new plug may also help with cold starting.

The clutch, spring, and variator will possably give you a small increase in top end. Don't expect more than 2-4mph increase if any. Though again, the sliding rollers along with those would be better.

The filter, is it an open air filter? Havn't tried mine out yet, yes you'll need to experiment with the jets with the filter change to get a happy air fuel mix. May not be worth the hastle, let us know what ends up working for you there.

A new exhaust, the GY6 engine doesn't really get the speed/performance enhancements from the exhaust the same as a 2 stroke would, but you may get something. let us know how it goes. Do one change at a time so if there is a problem you will know where it started. These can all be good tuning parts to change, so even if you find a minimal gain, it can be better than stock.
