Hi everyone!

I ride a 2007 or 2008 50cc Sym Fiddle II. It rides fine, but has recently started making some new noises, I think from the engine. I don't know much about the inner workings of them, but I did just fill it up with motor oil about a month ago (the right kind for this scooter). It would probably be pointless to try and describe the noises, but they're definitely new. What could they be?

Also, is transmission oil the same as motor oil or not? My manual mentions both but never really says how to change the transmission oil or anything.

Thanks!

I use 80-90 gear oil for the transmission. You will need to listen where the noises are coming from to properly diagnose the problem. They could be coming from your belt cover as well. Not enough information here to give you a proper answer.

If the noise is comming from the variator, under the cover, kickstart side, you'll need to look at the variator for maybe broken guides...information here,

If it's coming from the engine,
Try draining your oil again, look for any metal shavings.

If you are for a fact, using transmission fulid in your gear box, you should check that. I have two scooters and they both use 80/90 gear oil.

You can always make a video to capture the sound...
