Sometimes the intake elbow will crack on the underside where the carb clamp squeezes it. That lets in additional air and causes running issues.

Other than that, I'd say it's gotta be carb related cause it all started after you did the carb swap.

just found more wrong with my scoot,   at first i thought i had a hole in my muffler that was leaking , but as i started to remove the exhaust i was missing both bolts and one studd  and both brackets that hold the muffle had beed broken and rewelded and looks horrible.   i was going to ask what the cheapest way to replace the exhaust was but even the oem exhaust will run me 89 bux, i think maybe a local muffler shop can help me out for less. WHAT SHOULD I DO ABOUT GETTING A NEW EXHAUST?

Don't run it anymore til you get that exhaust fixed. The gasket is probably missing now so even if you do replace the stud and put a couple of nuts on it it'll still leak and that will burn the exhaust valve eventually and it'll melt the fan shroud plastic.

Post a pic of your muffler or a link to a muffler just like yours and I'll see if I can locate a cheaper alternative.

That pipe is wasted. Probably cost you $50 to get it welded. Might as well just get a new one and a gasket and do it right.

I found one for $65 + shipping and everything else you need over at scrappy:

Those 2 extra ones are for a splash guard piece. You don't have to use them if you don't have the guard. You can leave them there or cut them off.
