Blinkers working ok? You will probably find it is the stator that needs replacing. You can try changing out the regulator first, it's easier to get to, but my bet is on the stator. To replace the stator, you need to find out what the one you have looks like. How many coils coming off of it, and what wire set up it has. Replace it with the same. The stator is behind the fan and flywheel. The flywheel removal requires a impact wrench, and flywheel remover tool. A wrench like this is real handy, w a 17mm impact socket, can be found local and should never cost more than $35-$50 http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=12v+emergency+impact&_sacat=See-All-CategoriesFlywheel puller like this one for the 150cc, I don't know what your scooter engine is..... http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=150cc+flywheel+puller&_sacat=0&_odkw=150+gy6+flywheel+puller&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

Never actually seen a 6 coil in person before. An 8 coil should work if the plug connectors are the same. I've seen people upgrade from an 8 coil to an 11 coil before.

thanks so much for the info we actually ordered it after my friend looked threw the fly wheel. and for removing the flywheel and simple steering wheel puler and a nut was simple. but after the new stator we had to spend 20 buxs on ne light bulbs.
thanks again for all the help and now were just going to upgrade them and make them faster.

The steering wheel puller is nice in a pinch, till you work on that one flywheel that just won't come off Then you buy the the flywheel puller. I used to recommend it as a cheap tool you can get off the shelf at any auto parts store. Worked on 2 differrent engines, engine No. 3 not so much
