Hi Everyone. Happy New Year to you all.

I was wondering if a performance CDI would make any difference on my scooter. What would I gain by installing one of these on my bike? I have a Kymco Super 8 150. Below is a link of what I have been looking to buy.

Hi and welcome!

Most of us here have Chinese built scooters and over the years I've seen mixed results from people who installed performance CDI's. The guys that reported good results didn't gain a whole lot. I think you should ask the guys over at the Kymco forum for advise. They have a section devoted to just the Super 8 150 at the link below.

Good luck!

I installed a performance CDI last summer.  I noticed a that the scooter started easier and ran smoother with performance CDI over stock, but saw little to no performance gains.  I switched back and forth a few times just to be sure.  Hard to say if it's worth the money.

Like fiveliter. I noticed a smoother running engine with no performance gain. In my opinion, replacing the spark plug with an NGK, a quality coil, and cdi will give you a smoother firing, running engine. There was no gain in speed. Basicaly replacing stock with better quality parts. That particular CDI is way over priced for what you get, and is made for the Chinese clone GY6 engine.
Does Kymco put the GY6 engine in their scooters? I didn't think so Undecided
