If anyone knows how to make a 4 wire stator 139qmb work on a 5 wire Stator bike I would appreciate any help you can offer. the plugs are all the same color codes are somewhat different the Green wire is missing but the engine is grounded because the starter kicks over well? No fn Spark!

To: LowPricedScooterParts,

As the order requested the year and manufacture of the scooter I assumed it was to match the engine to it. There are more 5 wires not 4 coming from the original Stator. IE it is not the same engine if you can not tell me how to match the wires up then you sold me a defective piece of crap. Is that the business you are in? Ripping people off? If so I will share this info with all of the bulletin boards in Cycledom to make sure they all know it too.

Thank you
Kevin Hidden

To: Lowpricedscooterparts,

It seems quite obvious that you do not intend on doing the right thing. You sent me the wrong motor then refused to discuss it or make it right. Very bad business and it will come back to bite you. I will figure out a way to make this work but you will lose numerous customers over this I guarantee it. Below is an unanswered email.

Thank you for nothing
Kevin Hidden

To both of these I got this Lawyer written response I asked nice several other times and was ignored.

Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting our support team.

After reviewing your order and recent requests, you seem to have a issue with the following items from our site"
- 50cc 4 Stroke Engine (SKU: 6QLMFG, Ref: 139QMB)

As we understand your concern, unfortunately, we do not provide a technical support on engine installations.

However, you should check the following points to make sure proper wiring of the engine to the frame.
** PLEASE NOTE: We consider you are a certified mechanic and are familiar with all the procedures and requirements and the engine is already mounted to the frame.
If you are not a mechanic, WE CANNOT be held responsible for any misuse or miss-interpretation resulting in any diss function of the unit.

Because there are many different scooter manufactures on the market, they all have their own wiring standard regarding the wire colors.
As long as you follow the plug size the procedures, you should not have any issue.
 1.   Please disconnect the battery from the scooter and put it to charge using a certified battery charger.
 2.    Connect the starter to the solenoid coil (yellow/green)
 3.    The positive from the coil should go the the "+" born on the battery
 4.    The wires coming off the stator has 1 plastic plug and 2 wires, make sure to plug all 3 to the corresponding plugs on your scooter.
 5.    Make sure the electric choke from the carburetor is plugged correctly to the corresponding plug.
 6.    If you still have an electric wire not connected, please verify if it is a ground wire. If so, please attach it to a bolt on the engine itself.
 7.    Insert the spark plug firmly into the appropriate opening on the cylinder head on the right side of the engine.
 8.    Check the oil level and gas tank.  **You cannot start the engine with an old, used, contaminated or damaged fuel in the gas tank, you will need fresh new fuel. Make sure of the proper connection of the fuel line/vacuum line to the carburetor.
 9.    Make sure your carburetor is clean, inside and outside. Drain the carburetor if needed.
 10.   Kick start a few time to rush fuel to the carburetor using the kick level on the left side of the CVT cover.
 11.   Connect the battery, make sure emergency switch(Kill Switch) is on the "OFF" position, hold both brakes, and press the ignition switch.

**NOTE: Some scooter will not allow the engine to start if the center/side stand is deployed.

For any additional information, please contact a certified scooter mechanic.

Sincerely,
LowPriceScooterParts.com

You have to swap the stator from the old engine to the new one or buy a 5 wire stator and install it on your new engine. Make sure to buy one with the same exact plug connector if you go that route.

Swapping the stator requires a impact driver to loosen the flywheel nut behind the cooling fan and a flywheel puller tool. I use a cheap $30  emergency tire impact from Harbor Freight Tools like this one:
http://www.harborfreight.com/12-volt-1-2-half-inch-emergency-impact-wrench-92349.html

The puller for a 139QMB is a 24mmx1mm right hand thread. You install it in the flywheel after you remove the nut with the impact. You then hold back on it with a Crescent wrench while you turn the center bolt inward and it pops the flywheel off.

Step 1. Remove this piece:

Step 2. Remove the fan (Four 8mm bolts)

Step 3. Remove the nut in center of flywheel with impact.

Step 4. Remove the washer behind the nut is so equipped.

Step 5. Screw the flywheel puller into the center of the flywheel. This pic show a MC engine but it is the same procedure.

Step 6. Hold the puller with a crescent while turning the center bolt inward with another wrench to pop the flywheel off.

Now the stator will be accessible. Remove the two 8mm bolts holding it to the engine, and the two little 8mm bolts holding the pickup coil to the engine and the stator will come off. Pickup coil circled.

When installing a stator do not over-tighten the two little bolts holding the pickup coil! They will strip or snap off easily. Then tighten the flywheel nut with the impact so it doesn't loosen up.

Yea thanks, I do have all of that stuff including the stator. Since the 4 wire uses the exact same plugs and is only missing the green ground wire on the three wire connector I am hoping someone knows of a way to make it work. The engine is grounded I know this because the starter spins just fine I am going to get the voltage regulator tested tomorrow. Hopefully that is what is bad dunno. The thing that gets me is that the dealer asked the year and make of the bike as if that would assure that i would get a good replacement. now they are playing dumb about it and sending me a lawyer written form letter when i ask question with a non responsive few words added to it if and when they answer at all.

So does the stator have the green / ground wire connected to it? And then dissapear into the black wrapping? I am looking at the pictures from the stators that I put into my scooter last year, and I am not seeing the green wire in the plug on either one. The one on the right was the new/good stator, very clearly no green wire in the plug. However, I did save the old/failed one and just looked and it "has" the ground wire for the plug. Funny, I did not even think about that, I had to switch the connector from the old to the new as the one on the new stator was a smaller 3 prong than I needed.Undecided

The wire difference may not be the cause of the problem. However the stator may be a differrent number of coils, even though the engine is the same/correct. Like Fox said, swap stators. I had to do the same with a new engine swap before.
Also check you connected the other grounds, one to the engine by the fan shroud bolt?

Grin Yea thanks, the plugs are all the same the third wire in the plug coming from the bike is green and connected to ground. there is no wire in that position coming from the engine I thing that is because this stator just uses the the frame ground. I may have a bad voltage regulator I cant get one 'till Monday. I will be checking that and the stator voltages tomorrow. Very aggravating! But thanks. I do have a new stator but maybe won't have to do that.

I had an issue just like that OP. I just swapped my old one out and put it on the new engine I had.

Frostyman,
Did it turn out to be a differrent coil at all? Or just the difference in plug wires on yours? Because I remembered you asking about the green wire, which didn't effect my Roadrunner scooter at all.

I know that when I swapped in my old stator on the Baron it was because the one that came in the new engine was blowing my lights out. That one had the same plugs, but I don't remember what was different otherwise. I just threw away the new one in discust without comparing Undecided.

I honestly can't remember off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure it was the same size/width stator just with different wires, but it's been awhile. I put the old one on because I didn't wanna screw anything up. I'm not sure why some would have grounds and some wouldn't--- at that location?? I'm not even sure, off the top of my head, that the wires were in the proper position to be matched up with each other. Probably but not sure. I'm always paranoid about stuff like that.
