I just purchased and received a Tank Urban Touring 150 and have assembled it without being a mechanized wizrd. However, I am having trouble starting it. I have read up on some of the forums to get some information, but am still having trouble. Can someone please assist?
Here's the issue; Full tank, oil level good, fresh battery, auto starter, alarm, all the bells and whistles. It won't start. I have read the post where one guy had to connect the Killswitch to get it going. Where is this and how do I check it? I also have several other wires that are not connected to anything... Is there anything I am missing? I have looked for photos and manuals, but nothing comes up... So much for chinese linguists...
Can someone help? Any assistance is greatly appreciated as I would like to take this for some scooting fun!!! Thank you- Igotya247

Igotya247, Maybe you can tell me a bit more. First take a look at the pictures that I posted here... http://www.jacarmotorsports.com/faq/users/kb.php?id=10012&category_id=0&sid2=Make sure that your battery is connected according to the manual. Then, if the engine is not turning or making any movement then we can look at other areas as coil, cdi, etc. Keep us posted. Thanks

Did you hold in one of the brake handles when trying the starter? There is an interlock that will leave the starter dead unless a brake handle is "ON" while cranking. Nothing happens if a brake handle is not engaged. The engine kill switch should be on the right handgrip just above the starter switch. If the kill switch is off, the engine will crank, but not start. Also, check to make sure the fuel lines are intact and connected to the carb. and that the fuel filter is not leaking or blocked. Some bikes came from the factory with the lines disconnected.and leaking filters.
Good Luck!

TEAM, Thanks for the updates. I will check on those issues tonight and fill you in. As for holding in the brake handle when I try to start it, this was done as accorded by the manual. I will check the fuel line and make sure all lines are connected. I appreciate the help, and BTW, the first three letters on the VIN are 3CG. Someone had another post about that, but I do not know (or recall right now) if that affects anything currently. Javier, Thanks for the website. I found that last night too on another linked post. The battery was connected correctly and the location of the kill switch (being on the right handlebar- should have known  ) when I try to start it is in the middle (or "open" position as I have been told). I will keep you all posted and I really appreciate the help ! I promise to keep in touch as the posts I have read all seem to come from some good people. Thank you. Igotya247

Phil12string- That's the one. I don't think it means much after some further reading other than to say if your VIN starts with 3CG, then it came from China.
As for checking the fuel lines, etc., everything seems in order. I took the front cover off the steering column, as I have to recharge the battery from yesterdays attempts at starting. Does it make a difference if the bike has an auto starter? I mean, maybe it is one of the 6-7 wires not connected to anything... This would make sense as to say there is no closed connection to the starter- or am I thinking of my car when I had the auto starter added  and they forgot to connect the wires... As a side note, I also tried starting the bike with the kickstart as well and nada. Anymore suggestions other than taking it to a mechanic? (I am in CT and have a Vespa dealer down the road who said the engines were good but couldn't get parts...)

If they are willing to fix it then I carry all the parts for your scooter.
The next step should be to check the coil and the CDI. Have you contacted your dealer?
Thanks.

I did call the dealer and I spoke with one of the mechanics in which he stated that all new bikes, being shipped over the road, are shipped with air in the lines. His response to my inquiry about starting the bike was to crank the kick starter 10 times, while holding the right brake in. Then after this step, hit the starter button for about 30-45 seconds... This was done originally, knowing full well I would need HAZMAT to ship if there were fuel in the lines... I then tried this step again, lo and behold, it did not start. He believes the line was flooded and to leave it in the sun for about 45 minutes to let the fuel evaporate. We would then try to start it again later on, this time holding the start button for about 1 minute. I'll let you know further any other actions or celebrations I may have tonight or tomorrow.
TEAM, Thanks for all your help- and I look forward to posting some interesting trips here. Hopefully we will hear more about some of the exciting trips people take while riding their scooters!

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!! :x OK- Got it started, registered, and took it for a spin... Went to start it again today and.... nothing. I repeated the same procedure from last night, now I am letting it sit in case of flooding. I will try to start it again in a bit. But for those fleeting few minutes, I was free!! I took it easy, just a few miles at relative speed- about 30-40 mph was the max for about a mileof about a five mile trip. Otherwise, lots of looks from passerby and one or two questions about where I purchased and how much. A couple others- how comfortable was the ride... We'll see how this turns out. Hope you all are having a great fourth weekend! Igotya247

Make sure your kick stand is up. There is a cutoff switch that won't let it start if it is down.
