My wife just received a Roketa Catalina 150 from BN Scooter. The scooter starts ok but after a few miles it stalls and wont restart. I have no idea what to look for but She's getting bummed. She is afraid to ride the scooter for fear it will stall on her. I have been taking it out for runs but "I am running out of gas trying to push the scooter" Of course the tank stays full that way. But really, if there is anyone out there with advise regarding the problem, it would be much appreciated. I have tried to contact BN Scooter but they seem to not want to return calls once they sold the scooter to her. Thanks

Does it have an alarm? if it does, besure to push the "unlock" button twice in a row before starting the scooter. It has a "scooterjack" feature that will disable the electrical system after 5 min. of runtime.

maybe the choke is stuck? pull the spark plug and look at the color - take a pic and report back...

I think Sparky has the right answer..at least that's my bet. Can't wait for confirmation.

there is no alarm to my knowlege. I have the plastic off and am trying to look at the engine compartment to see if anything is loose.

Check all the vacuum lines for the fuel system, as well as the fuel lines. If any of the fuel lines are too long and rise above the fuel level in the tank before it gets to the fuel pump, you will get the symptoms you described. (I know from personal experience) I found it is best to go through the whole scooter very thoroughly and put hose clamps on ALL the hoses, because the little wire ones don't hold up to vibration well, and cause all kinds of problems with the vacuum system. be sure to re-route any lines that are up against anything sharp/hot, and make all the hoses have sweeping bends rather than sharp ones. A slight kink in a fuel line, can cause it to collapse under suction.
Let us know if you find anything amiss.

Spraky, Thats exactly what happened. Got a tip from an owner on Scootdawg forum. same thing happened to him. The fuel lines were routed over hot areas and they were causing vapor lock. I rerouted the lines and the scoot seems to be working great. Any advice on the Tank 250. I'd like to get one but I'm not a mechanic. I was wondering if they are more difficult for owners to work on than the air cooled GY6. THanks again Dennis

The 250 is a great riding scooter, and I don't think it's any harder to maintain than any other, although the cooling system does add some challenges, as the engine placement is different because of it. The engine is a vertical design rather than horizontal. See the pictures on my "show my ride" album. Click the link at the bottom of the page.
