OK, I finally removed my CVT cover on my TANK 150 Touring DE, and installed a Dr. Pully variator with 10 gr weights and a new Kevlar belt.  The problem, I over torqued two of the cover bolts, pretty much stripping the aluminum threads on the block.  The metal that makes up the threaded gear housing is VERY soft .  The belt cover is fully seated and on tight, and the gasket is sealed, but I would like to replace the two bolts that I stripped just to be on the safe side.  Has anyone had this problem and sucessfully fixed it?  My working plan is to get slightly larger self-tapping bolts to re cut the threads.  Are there Helicoils small enough to do the job as well?

Oh, by the way, the new variator and weights were more than worth it, acceleration off the line has increased.  I haven't "opened it up" completely yet, so I don't know if I got an increase in top speed,  but so far, I'm pleased.  Also, my 2006 bike had a GATES belt, labled as a "Scooter Drive Belt"  installed from the factory.  TANK is obviously making an effort to increase quality.

yes, there are heli-coils in all metric sizes. I believe the smallest size is 3mm.
