That's so cool. Thanks for all the pics. And, good luck. I hope it's an easy fix.

You lucky bastid! I guess I got lucky too, but I fear that after replacing the top-end it'll still refuse to fire. If it does that, I'll just keep what I want and part out the rest.

a cool buck -you can't loose and if it come to it you'd make a lot more parting it out then selling it as is. Hopefully it fires up and you can zip around on it.

Wow... Those are great deals...
In our life times we will get these offers. Sometimes we go for it sometimes we don't... I've had my share of great deals...
The one that it comes to my mind is a 1974 Challenger that I bought from this couple that was going through a divorce. The wife sold me her soon to be husband's car for 300. He called me and try to buy it back but I would not sell it... I was in highschool...
The other one is a 69 mustang that I bought from a co-worker. He neded money to repair his main car and sold me the Stang... Belonged to his mother. All original...
And more recently I boutht a 1974 Corvette Stingray with 18,000 original miles from a good friend of mine...
But for me the deal of the century was my 1965 Bug SunRoof... I bought that car from my father.... The only thing he wanted was a 6pack of miller gold draft... Now... That's a deal!!!!

So where is the rest of the story? How did you get that scoot for only a buck, and what did you all have to do to get it running? I wish I could come across deals like that!

Craigslist ad in the FREE section. I saw it and went and picked it up. We wrote $1 on the bill of sale so it's not a gift and I actually gave the guy $20 just for the hell of it. It wouldn't start. It sat in storage for a couple years and I finally decided to resurrect it. It wasn't hard. Just needed a new top end, carb cleaned, and good cleaning and some hoses replaced, a new flasher relay, a new headlight bulb and some STP on the plastics to bring back the new look.
Took about 30 hours to do it all.
It runs great! It's way quicker and climbs hill better than a 139QMB 50cc

I am assuming that it is a 2 stroke engine? I know my Eton Beamer 2 stroke is way quicker off the line, better hill climbing, and about 7 mph faster on the top end.
